NEED
Sound land management is predicated on a through understanding of land’s history, use, and inhabitants. Bluestem Conservation Cemetery is working on their land management planning process and needs assistance inventorying the grasslands, oak-hickory forests, and streams comprising the property (site map: https://www.bluestemcemetery.org/map.html).
Inventories will;
- be conducted by volunteers working with Bluestem staff and/or experts from partner organizations,
- focus on selected habitat areas or trails crossing different habitats, and
- utilize iNaturalist projects to collect and share data.
Impact Projects
- Initial inventory work has just begun. Inventory data will be analyzed, strategies considered, and decisions made which support Bluestem’s Land Management Planning process. Master Naturalist students have the option of working on existing inventories or proposing new areas for consideration.
